Heru Releases 199 Contingents to Compete in NU Porseni

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono officially released 199 contingents of the Jakarta Nadhlatul Ulama Regional Management (PWNU) who will compete in the National Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Sports and Arts Week in Surakarta, Central Java from January 14 to 22, 2023.

Those contingents were released at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (1/11).

He hoped that they could give their best and fight with all their heart and energy to win. It included maintaining sportsmanship and participating in competitions with a spirit of brotherhood and sporting interest.

"This morning, we are releasing the PWNU contingent to carry out sports activities in Solo and will be attended by all branches. For the athletes, keep the spirit, continue to be optimistic, and can return as the overall champion," he expressed.

Jakarta PWNU Chairperson, KH. Samsul Maarif explained in this Porseni, there are seven sports that will be contested starting from football, volleyball, martial art to badminton. While the art classes that are contested include qiroatul the yellow book, alfiyah memorization to Al-Qur'an reading competitions.

"We have made preparations to take part in this competition. Insya Allah (God Willing), 199 contingents are also ready to take part in the competition for the coming week," he explained.

It is one of a series of events in commemoration of NU's 100th anniversary. It was hoped that the PWNU contingents would become overall champions and give pride to all Jakarta residents.

"Hopefully, it will run smoothly. We will go and return safely. I thank the Acting Governor for his full support," he closed.
